Welcome to the XVII SIPDA International Symposium on Lightning Protection (SIPDA 2025), a biannual global scientific event contributing to the discussion and dissemination of innovations in lightning protection. We are excited to announce that the SIPDA 2025 will be held for the first time in Europe, in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, Greece and will be organized by the High Voltage Laboratory of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
This symposium aims to bring together researchers and professionals to present and discuss the latestresearch findings in lightning phenomena and their effects, as well as new developments in lightning protection technology, while promoting networking and through dissemination knowledge andawareness on lightning to the public.
SIPDA 2025 will offer a diverse program of invited speeches, oral and poster sessions, covering a wide range of topics related to lightning phenomena, modeling, and measurement techniques, as well as grounding and lightning protection. In addition to the technical program, SIPDA 2025 will also offer a technical tour to SEleNe CC, the Regional Coordination Center for the TSOs in Southeast Europe, as well as social events, providing an opportunity to explore the long history and culture of Thessaloniki.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the biggest university in Greece. Named after the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, AUTH was founded originally in 1926.
